KRAKÓW / CRACOW / CRACOVIA

Poland is an ancient nation, and Kraków, its old capital and the seat of Polish kings, is one of the most attractive cities in the world. The old City, surrounded partially by city walls and towers, is preserved in its original, Gothic style. The visitor may encounter here the abundance of pre-Romanesque, Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and liberty style architecture. The excellent example of late Gothic art is the 15th century Gothic altarpiece carved by the sculptor Veit Stoss. The Royal Castle located on the top of limestone Wawel hill belongs to the most magnificient examples of Renaissance architecture north of the Alps. In the Czartoryski Museum one can admire the original paintings by Leonardo, Rembrandt and Rubens.
